# page was renamed from FrontPage = About MadLUG = MadLUG is the Madison area Linux Users Group. We hold social meetings once a month on Saturdays to discuss Linux and related topics. We also put together demonstrations and presentations related to the installation and running of Linux in addition to more advanced topics, such as networking, programming, and databases. Our users come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are academics and students; others are system administrators, web designers and other IT professionals; and others simply enjoy computers. == Meetings == We also have monthly restaurant locations and presentation topic information at: http://web608.org/madlug /!\ Please note that every event begins on a Saturday at 1pm. JVLnet in Janesville kindly hosted our website. After our first president, Adam Cody, left Madison, we reorganized in the summer and fall of 1999, at which point we obtained the madisonlinux.org domain name, and transferred the web and mailing list hosting. During this time we had a number of projects going on, including a community outreach project and a presentation at a local computer expo. In January of 2000 we adopted a set of bylaws. Since that time we have had a number of technically-oriented presentations, but the majority of our meetings have been social, coffeehouse meetings at the Lakefront Cafe (UW Memorial Union) in Madison. However, starting in 2009, our social meetings now rotate between locations. Stay tuned to the mailing list for each exciting monthly location! == Special Events == * May 2nd, 2010 - Lucid Lynx Ubuntu 10.04 Release Party. ---- . If you'd like to help maintain the site, stop by the Wiki_Workers page. At current, not sure how to change side bar, but if you need to test some MoinMoin stuff, you can do so in the Sandbox. Apparently there's also a predefined Sandbox at http://madisonlinux.org/WikiSandBox .
